Tregaron Community Hospital is run by Hywel Dda University Health Board for NHS Wales.
The hospital is a 20 bed hospital with one ward that specialises in rehabilitation of the elderly and palliative care.
Ward visiting is by appointment – phone 01974 298203.
Health Inspectorate Wales last did an inspection of the hospital in September 2021.
The hospital had its origins in the Aberaeron Union Workhouse which was completed in 1876. It became a facility for the treatment of tuberculosis sufferers known as the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in 1915.
There have been plans to repurpose the hospital as part of a new Cylch Caron Integrated Resource Centre.
The joint project between Ceredigion County Council, Hywel Dda University Health Board and Mid-Wales Housing Association (now Barcud) would consist of a GP surgery, community pharmacy, outpatient clinics and community nursing and social care facilities, together with 34 extra care flats and six integrated health and social care flats.
This scheme will provide an integrated rural model of community care and housing and provide a replacement for Tregaron Hospital and Bryntirion Residential Care Home.
