Watson & Pratt’s in Lampeter is looking for a part-time Storeroom Assistant to help deal with the weekly cycle of deliveries and stock rotation in our retail warehouse in Lampeter.

Watson & Pratt’s have a warehouse on the trading estate in Lampeter, which houses all our ambient, chilled and frozen stock for the business. This warehouse is managed by the Retail Warehouse and Stock Manager, who now needs an assistant.

The tasks of the job include….

• Checking in of deliveries from small courier parcels to 3 pallets in size. Learning the quirks of all the suppliers, and understanding the nature of what is sold and responding to any problems.
• Product verification : ensuring order deliveries are complete, following up on any damaged deliveries, requesting credits from suppliers and keeping track of the paperwork side of things too.
• Putting stock away in the warehouse, be it ambient, chilled or frozen. Knowing what goes where upon delivery – what the shops might be waiting on and ensuring they have everything that they need at all times.
• Stock rotation, following existing systems, and developing some new ones along the way. Spotting short date stock and responding to that. Highlighting over and under stocks to the manager.
• Picking stock to go to the shops in Lampeter and Aberaeron.
• Picking stock for the home delivery department and regular stock counts.
• Following the daily tasks board : completing weekly checks and cleaning, and responding to the needs of the business.

This role is very physically demanding, on your feet all shift and moving a large quantity of stock through the business including pallets of 25kg flour sacks, working at height when putting stock onto very high shelves, and working in minus 18 degrees when putting away frozen stock.

The job is 3 days a week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am start until 3pm so can fit around a school run.
