Ceredigion County Council is looking to recruit a School Crossing Patrol Officer in Lampeter.
As part of the Council’s Road Safety team the job will involve ensuring the safety of children crossing the road at a designated point between specified times without detriment to the welfare of other road users.
On a day to day basis Crossing Patrol Officer will…
- Arrive at the crossing location on time wearing the correct uniform and with the stop sign.
- Stop pedestrians from crossing the road until it is safe for them to do so, once all traffic has stopped moving in either direction.
- Carry out the Council’s policy with regard to the School Crossing Patrol service which includes Health and Safety procedures.
- Maintain control over the children who are awaiting the School Crossing Patrol’s instruction to cross the highway.
The ideal candidate will be an individual who is reliable and confident, a good time keeper and communicator able to adapt quickly and appropriately to changing situations, and who is confident working in the highway. Also someone with the ability to supervise children and show a caring attitude towards them, the ability to work without supervision, and someone who is able to communicate clearly and pleasantly at all times.

This post will be based at Ysgol Bro Pedr, Lampeter, and is from 8am – 9am and 3.10pm – 3.45pm each school day.
