Ysgol Bro Pedr, Lampeter

Ysgol Bro Pedr is the main school in the Lampeter area.

It combines both a secondary school and a primary school, serving pupils from age 3 to 19.

The primary school was previously the separate Fynnonbedr School which was demolished in 2018.

The Headteacher is Mrs Carys Morgan.

The school has just over a thousand pupils with approximately 350 in the primary school and over 700 in the secondary school.

Ysgol Bro Pedr is categorised linguistically by the Welsh Government as a category 2B school, meaning that at least 80% of subjects (except Welsh and English) are taught through the medium of Welsh but are also taught through the medium of English. Around two-thirds of the pupils are from non Welsh-speaking homes, 37% of pupils came from Welsh-speaking homes in 2016.

Canolfan y Bont, which is a county resource for secondary-age pupils with profound
needs, is situated on the school’s grounds.

The school is overseen by the local education authority Ceredigion County Council.

The last Estyn Inspection Report was done in 2016. The school’s performance was rated as Good.

Past pupils of the school include both the current local MP, Ben Lake, and the current AM for the area Elin Jones. Elin is the Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales.
