Lampeter Town Council

Lampeter Town Council was established in 1974 as part of the re-organisation of local government in Wales. Lampeter Borough Council, established in 1884 was abolished and many functions were transferred to Ceredigion District and Dyfed County Councils, although a further re-organisation in 1996 abolished county and district councils and established Ceredigion County Council as a unitary authority.

Although most services are provided by Ceredigion County Council, Lampeter Town Council still has responsibility for a number of services including parks and footpaths.

Councillors are elected every 5 years from one ward which includes the whole town. The Mayor is elected by Members of the Council and serves for a one year term, chairing meetings of the Council, leading the Council and representing the council at meetings and civic events.

The current mayor is Cllr Rhys Bebb Jones (Plaid Cymru).

Council meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month at the Creuddyn Building. They are open to the public.
