Part of the pastorate of Bethel Park-y-rhos, Esgairdawe, Rhydybont, Crugybar and Llansawel Independent Churches.

Bethel Independent Chapel was built in 1860 in the Simple Gothic style of the gable entry type.

A memorial tablet to William Williams of Parc-y-Rhos, on the rear internal wall, gives part of the history of this chapel.
