Site Operative at UWTSD, Lampeter Campus

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is looking for a Site Operative to join their team on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

The role is based on the University’s Lampeter Campus, but there may some requirement to work across other campuses.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining the security of UWTSD premises and the environment. In addition, depending on Rota and need, you will be expected to carry out caretaking duties, portering, and minor maintenance.

About You

To be considered as a Site Operative, you will need…

  • A good general level of education
  • A valid full driving license
  • Willingness to undertake first-aid certificate training
  • Previous experience in providing grounds and minor maintenance service
  • The ability to identify potential risks and undertake risk assessments
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • The ability to demonstrate effective organisational skills
  • The ability to apply attention to detail
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Good IT skills (training will be given on University systems)
  • To demonstrate self-motivation and ability to work unsupervised
  • To be able to work as part of a team and in partnership with others
  • To recognise the need for and demonstrates appropriate confidentiality
  • To be able and prepared to work flexibly, including travel between campuses and locations when required.

It would be beneficial if you also have…

  • Valid first aid certification
  • Previous experience of working in Higher Education
  • Previous experience of providing security services in a similar environment
  • Previous experience of switchboard service
  • Understanding of a Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh – oral and written.
