This is a new one-day small willow shoulder bag workshop – based on the popular two-day large shoulder basket workshop.
Some previous experience would be beneficial.
Weave your own oval-based basket with a selection of Denmark Farm’s own and Somerset willow – a perfect size for a day out. You can complete the basket with 2 handles or a shoulder strap – not included in the price.
What you will learn…
- How to weave the Catalan-style base using a pre-formed hoop and turn up the sides
- How to weave the sides with a selection of weaves – 3-rod wale, French rand
- How to weave a border to finish the basket.
A selection of willow colours will be available. All tools and equipment will be provided.
The Workshop Tutor…
The tutor for the course is Justine Burgess of West Wales Willows.
Justine originally trained as an engineer, and worked in the charity and education sectors, before becoming a partner in West Wales Willows with her husband, Alan. On their smallholding in Carmarthenshire, they grow around 250 varieties of willow and sell it as cuttings and rods during the winter for others to grow, as well as selling their own willow products and sharing her expertise through workshops.
Places are limited to eight participants and must be booked in advance.
