The UWTSD Sustainability Fair is being held on 18 October in the Arts Hall on Lampeter Campus.

The event is open to members of the public, university staff and students.

There will be demonstrations and stalls including Tŷ Pren roundwood building, spinning & natural dyeing, and making wildflower seed bombs.

Lampeter Resilience Hub will be running two workshops…

12pm – 1 pm : Sprouting Workshop
Members of LRH will take you through how to sprout seeds. You can easily grow nutritous sprouts from seeds and pulses in the smallest of spaces, so why not have a go?

4pm – 5 pm : Lacto-Fermentation
Learn how to make your own kimchi with local expert Peggy Beer. In this hour-long session, sauerkraut and kimchi are made using a technique called lactose fermentation. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are the micro-organisms responsible for changing raw vegetables into a complex mixture of lactic acid and chemical compounds, resulting in new and funky flavours. Fermented foods are especially good for your gut microbes.

1pm – 2 pm : Lampeter Campus Biodiversity Walk and Talk
The Biodiversity Team will guide you on a walking tour of the Green Flag Lampeter campus, taking in historical buildings and bringing UWTSD’s biodiversity action plan to life.

2.30pm – 3.30pm : Talk by Selwyn Runnett on the World of the Welsh Honey Bee
Selwyn Runnett is a commercial beekeeper with apiaries situated in rural Wale. He has extensive knowledge about honey bee conservation of the European Dark bee, beekeeping education and mentoring and honey production. Selwyn is also the Chair of the Bee Improvement and Bee Association (BIBBA) Research, Science & Conversation Committee.
